Show Me is a cocktail bar in Nizhniy Novgorod (Russia), another project by Salut&Co, who are also behind the well-known Salut Burgers and Sovok (wok noodle) restaurants.

The task: creating the interior of a speak easy bar, making a cozy, comfortable place for conversation.

The challenges: a dark, cold underground space with no windows and very bad acoustic and a solid echo. So we started with soundproof panels on the ceiling.

The problem of lightening we solved with the light boxes in the role of windows, with the warm yellow illumination inside.

We’ve studied various technologies of manufacturing the stained glass and got inspired by the aesthetics of Soviet futurism and Andrey Tarkovsky’s Solaris.

The round panel is meant for mapping.

Welded shelves along the perimeter of the bar for plants, dishes and additional light within the shelves.

Furniture and seating places were inspired by the subway.

The aesthetic of the interior is very much its own and ‘analogue’, meant for deep conversation, not superficial small talks — there is no Internet, no mirrors for selfies, but there is a great collection of vinyl records.
