The dance floor unfolds against the light grey concrete of a brutalist façade on one side and runs off into a light green mass of trees on the other. Rough textures and raw materials set off a bold colour palette; exposed engineering structures resolve into an elegant geometry. Architecture, media and landscape enter into a dialogue.

A five-metre media cube becomes a symbol of the contemporary digital environment, integrated directly into the balcony of the concrete block. A billboard of sorts for the whole festival, it joins the architecture of the place to the language of contemporary media.

An important gesture is the birch growing up through the stage. It stands for an autonomous intrusion, pointing to the presence of uncontrolled natural processes inside a strictly organised system.

The visual content is treated as a separate artistic layer of the project. It is made using micro- and macro-photography of the surroundings, documentation of the specific site, work with scientific imagery and with generative systems. The link between landscape, microcosm and media space becomes the basis for a layered narrative.

The Blok stage was built for the Outline 2026 festival, but the festival was cancelled by the authorities. The stage was finished in time, yet you will only see it fully at work in 2027. For now we are showing the technical renders and a preview of the stage in the enigmatic state we managed to assemble it in before the festival was called off.
